Sílvia Osuna will receive the 2021 EuChemS lecture award, which is given yearly to junior scientists working in chemistry in a country with a EuChemS Member Organisation in recognition of their major achievements.
As an ICREA research professor at the Universitat de Girona (UdG), Sílvia Osuna works with the interface between computational chemistry and biology. Her research focuses on the study of biochemical processes mainly related to enzyme catalysis. Her lab is developing new computational tools for predicting which amino acid changes are required to the enzyme structure for allowing novel function in order to enable the routine computational design of proficient enzymes to boost their use in industry.
