On 5 December 2019, the Closing Ceremony of the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT2019) was hosted by the Science Council of Japan IUPAC subcommittee in Tokyo. This ceremony was the opportunity to look back on the numerous activities of the IYPT2019 and to enhance future initiatives between the different fields of chemistry and beyond. An exhibition dedicated to the Periodic Table retraced its 150-years history and gave the participants the opportunity to discover the IYPT activities that were held worldwide in 2019.
Maki Kawai, President of the Japanese Chemical Society, welcomed the participants from all around the world attending the closing session. As EuChemS representative and Vice-President, David-Cole Hamilton gave a concise IYPT greetings from EuChemS and its very many IYTP activities. Read more about our IYPT activities here.
