Professor Berit Olofsson is the recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Service 2024. Professor Olofsson is an internationally recognised researcher in synthetic organic chemistry. She was awarded the Arrhenius Plaque by the Swedish Chemical Society in 2021 for her contributions to research. In addition to her research, Professor Olofsson has contributed significantly to a series of positions of trust in European committees, most notably as Secretary and vice-chair of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry (2018-2022) and she is currently the President of the International Scientific Committee of the European Symposium on Organic Chemistry since 2023. Furthermore, she was elected as a member of Angewandte Chemie’s international advisory board in 2020 and the Chem advisory board in 2023. A true ‘European’ chemist, Professor Olofsson is a deserving recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Service 2024.
2023
Professor Serafino Gladiali (Emeritus Professor of the University of Sassari – and Associate of the Leibniz Institute of Catalysis) is the recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for service 2023 for his contributions to European chemistry in his leadership roles in a series of COST Actions and his hosting in Sassari of numerous early career researchers from across Europe on short term scientific missions.
2022
Professor Dieter Schinzer (Otto von Guericke Universität Magdeburg) is the recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Service 2022 for his significant contributions to organic chemistry in Europe through his role as Chemistry Domain Committee Chairman in COST (2006-2014), his promotion of opportunities within COST for early career researchers and his establishment of High Level Research Conferences in Chemistry in collaboration with the European Science Foundation.
