2024
Professor Ilan Marek is the recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Research 2024. Professor Marek’s research focuses on the development of new and efficient stereo- and enantioselective strategies for the synthesis of important complex molecular structures. He is particularly interested in developing carbon-carbon bond forming processes, which efficiently create multiple stereocentres in a single-pot operation. His deep understanding of reaction mechanisms has provided insight into the origins of chemo- and stereoselectivity observed, allowing for reaction optimisation towards the most efficient and general protocols for his methodologies. His publications are characterised by the challenging synthetic problems addressed, coupled with the efficient and elegant solutions developed. He is a deserving winner of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Research 2024.
2023
Professor Alois Fürstner is the recipient of the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Research 2023. He has made many important contributions to contemporary catalysis research and, in parallel, has demonstrated the potential of homogeneous catalysis for target-oriented synthesis by a truly impressive number of advanced applications in the total synthesis of natural products and compounds of biological interest.
