EuChemS-DCE SURVEY ON REPRESENTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY IN PROGRAMMES OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Home » EuChemS-DCE SURVEY ON REPRESENTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY IN PROGRAMMES OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Environmental Chemistry addresses the cycling, fate and effects of chemicals in the environment. This discipline is rooted in various chemical sub-disciplines, and has been developing in relation to environment, toxicology, biology, biogeochemistry, public health,as well as engineering and computer sciences. Implementation of air, water and soil chemistry in chemistry, geosciences or engineering curricula (e.g. Water Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering) has been mainly motivated by the educational priorities of the individual university study programmes and hardly organized via coordinated national or state requirements. Correspondingly, the contents and foci differ considerably and more than for other disciplines across universities, and the comparability of available Environmental Chemistry study programmes is limited.

The EuChemS Division for Environmental Chemistry survey aims, with your invaluable support, to explore the contents studied in Europe and to consolidate the knowledge, identify possible gaps in education and propose potential recommendations for future educational activities.

Note: By participation in this survey persons in charge for the programme understand that the data they provide will be used for analysis of the European programmes at the university level. It is unavoidable that besides false-negatives (non-detected programmes and no response questionnaires), the collected data may contain erroneous information, such as unofficial translations of programme names, or outdated information or links. This may affect the interpretation of the results to some point. EuChemS, EuChemS DCE, data analysts and the authors of the publication that will evolve from this survey cannot be held responsible for any false provided information nor for any use which can be made of the data.
