On 7 November 2024, EuChemS Vice President Floris Rutjes participated in a panel discussion at the SusChem Stakeholder Event in Brussels, focused on “What are the Chemical Sector’s Needs for Future Funding Programs?” The event brought together stakeholders from the chemical industry, academia, research organisations, SMEs, and EU institutions to discuss advancing sustainability and fostering collaboration. Rutjes and other leaders addressed strategies for enhancing EU competitiveness, highlighting the importance of targeted investments, technological advancements, and multi-stakeholder partnerships to drive long-term growth and sustainability in the chemical sector.
The event also featured two workshops aimed at shaping the future of SusChem (the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry). One workshop focused on strengthening links between European and national levels, while the other examined the R&D&I needs of the chemical sector.
