Prof. Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma is the new President of the Suomalaisten Kemistien Seura – Finnish Chemical Society.
Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma, PhD is Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and the current Head of the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Helsinki. He has researcher training from the Scripps Research Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. He was appointed as a Chief Research Scientist at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) in 1998, and he joined the University of Helsinki in 2000. Beyond the medicinal chemistry of antimicrobial and anti-biofilm agents, he focuses on protein kinases as well as chemical induction of cellular reprogramming and differentiation. He has authored 164 scientific articles and 22 patents in chemistry. He is a member of the Finnish Pharmacopoeia Committee, Scientific Advisory Board for Defence, and Orion Research Foundation as well as President of the Finnish Chemical Society.
