Société Chimique de France – New President

EuChemS would like to welcome Prof. Gilberte Chambaud as the new President our Member Society the Société Chimique de France.
Gilberte Chambaud has been elected President of the Société Chimique de France for the period 2015-2018. She is currently Emeritus Professor at the Université Paris-Est Marne la Vallée in the laboratory “Modelling and Multi-Scale Simulation”.
In 1982 she got a PhD degree in theoretical chemistry from Université Pierre et Marie Curie / Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris. From 2006 to 2011, she was the Scientific Director of the CNRS Institute of Chemistry in charge of the organisation of the institutional research strategy (financing and recruitment) in chemistry in ca. 180 academic chemistry laboratories in French universities and academic institutions, bringing together about 8000 people.
Gilberte Chambaud has also been the president of the SCF Division for Education and Training (2000-2004), and more recently vice-President of Société Chimique de France (2012-2015). She is the first woman to act as President of SCF.
